The Summer of 2018 marked the launch of The Style Starters, a collective aiming to bring bloggers together to build a community that can find resources and inspiration from within its local reach.
I had the chance to meet Clara from Uptown Urban Style a week before the highly anticipated launch of the Style Starters. As the mastermind behind what I'm sure will be a catalyst for many influencer collaborations, she was understandably nervous, but obviously organized and prepared.
Funny enough, we both attended the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising (FIDM) in San Francisco and had been looking for an outlet to showcase our creative ideas in new ways. Her mission with the Style Starters is to bring influencers and quality brands together organically in order to create, well, Instagram magic!
The launch party was held at Hotel Nia, a hotel with the kind of luxe experience you want and would expect from a place within Silicon Valley. (It also has the best Instagrammable spots! Don't believe me? Keep scrolling!)
Although it was almost 100 degrees during this midday celebration, it was refreshing to be immersed in a space that was blogger-centric and friendly. Clara's family members were the pillars of the event. They were bubbly and enthusiastic to be launching what I am sure is also a vision come true for them.
As we (my niece and I attended) walked into the space, brunch was ready! We indulged in some yogurt, granola, and fresh fruit, but the breakfast foods looked delicious as well. And after a glass of OJ, we were ready to mingle and network!
I met some gorgeous women who like myself and many others, are trying to make a small difference with their voices. Whether that be talking about budget friendly interior design or family focused adventures and ideas, we all had the ability to relate our stories back to the fact that we were each women with individual voices who need help magnifying our messages across social media platforms.
There was also a demonstration by the ladies from Braserie, an innovative line of fashion bra straps that solve the age old dilemma of "tugging on a strapless bra or ugly clear straps?"
Also, Nancy Rosales, a media and talent coach launching her own YouTube and series of masterclasses spoke about the importance of video blogging in this day and age.
The day's event ended with a $200 raffle, as well as an opportunity to share each other's blog visions and goals.
All in all, it was a unique space that many women in attendance said they had been in search of for a really long time. Groups like the Style Starters are necessary in order to create smaller, more intimate communities within large areas like the Bay Area.
