Winter Wardrobe Essentials

This time of year is difficult for me because I almost feel at limbo when it comes to my everyday style. I tend to look at my closet and gravitate towards my sweatpants and UGG boots (that are still in excellent condition since my parents bought them for me in 2007). But there are easy alternatives we can opt for that won’t look like we’ve totally given in, rather make others want to step up their game after seeing how great and comfortable you look regardless of the winter slump.

Sweater Dresses

Sweater dresses tend to be available at every women’s clothing store this time of year. They are a top pick for me during chilly Winter days because you can wear leggings and tall or short boots and look totally adorable. It’s also easy to turn a sweater dress ensemble from day to night. During the day, keep it simple and pair with tights and booties. For the evening, remove the tights and change into a pair of thigh high boots.

Here are some of my fav picks:

Happily Forever Mocha Off The Shoulder Sweater Dress - $42

Sporty & Sweet Sweater Dress - $66

Outlander Forest Green Sweater Dress - $24

Flannels aren’t strictly for holiday festivities! My current favorite way to wear flannels are paired with jeans and sneakers. Pretty basic outfit we all own right? Style it by tucking in your jeans and throwing on a statement belt. We may not all own a Gucci belt, but there are alternatives that are just as trendy (keep reading for my top belt picks too)! Flannels are also great to layer under vests, or dresses. They add that extra bit of Winter fashion flare, as well as an extra layer of warmth!

Check out a few cute picks here:

Plaid Button Down - $23

Long Sleeve Plaid No Gap Button Down Shirt - $23

Plaid Button Up Top - $25

Cropped Sweaters

I am not typically an advocate for cropped ANYTHING, but a cropped sweater is a great addition to a versatile comfy wardrobe. You can throw it on with some high waist jeans, over a dress, over one of the flannels listed above, really over anything! Just be aware of proportions!

Here are some fail-safe options you can count on:

Cropped Folded Knitted Sweater - $12

Pearl Cropped Top - $29

V-Neck Women's Crop Sweater - $25

Wide Leg Pants

I think we can all come to the agreement that wearing pants sucks. So when we've spent some time at home and then have to actually go out, nothing is less exciting than having to squeeze into your jeans.

A wide leg pant is a great option that looks adorable with a sweater or tucked in flannel!

Here are some chic and easy pant options:

Weekend Wide-Leg Knit Pants - $30

Crepe Tie-Front Wide Leg Pant - $55

Snap Front Slit Wide Leg Pant - $50

Statement Belts

The easiest way to elevate an outfit is by adding a statement piece like a belt! Throw it on a sweater dress or loop it threw your jeans with a tucked in flannel, and you're ready to go out for drinks or to Target for errands.

Here are a few of my favorites (I actually own the Web Belt!):

Leather Large Circle Waist & Hip Belt - $23

Festival Web Belt - $23

Moon and Stat Buckle Chain Belt - $19

I know this time of year can be uninspiring when it comes to fashion and dressing up because of the sometimes insane weather, but I hope these tips and picks motivate you to try something new!

I'd love to see your comfy winter outfit ideas, or hear your suggestions on how to style these pieces!
