Eva Mendes Collection: Exclusively at New York & Company

The multi-talented, Eva Mendes, has been designing an exclusive collection for NY and Company for a while, but not until this Spring has it caught my attention, and the attention of many budget fashionistas around the country.

NY and Company has been a go-to for many of the women in my family. I remember in the late 90's or early 2000's wearing their matching velour track suits. To this day, I always pop in to check out their jewelry and accessories collections.

When it was announced a few years ago that Eva Mendes would be collaborating with the iconic American mall staple, I was intrigued. But eventually, my interest faded when I realized it was best suited for women who had curves ONLY in the right places, and women who worked in an office setting.

Cut to about two weeks ago. I was walking through the mall (towards the Disney store actually), and I literally stopped in my tracks. My boyfriend, whose hand I was holding stopped as I pulled him back and I said, "I need ALL OF IT!" He's such an amazing, PATIENT man that he already knows the drill: 15 minutes going in circles around the entire store; 30 minutes of me grabbing pieces, putting them back only to grab them again; 45 minutes in the dressing room and documenting it in my Insta Stories; finally, 5 minutes paying for what I decided I couldn't live without.

The first look I tried on was a tee in a size xl and polka dot skirt in a size 14. Although cute pieces, the tee was not for me. It was too clingy and I immediately noticed my insulin pump poking through. The skirt was also a bit strange. It looked like it was too short from the sides and back. It was sadly a no from me.

Look #2 was an orange strapless dress. I had no idea where I would wear this dress to, but I wanted it. I tried on a size 16 since it has almost like a corset. The dress fit but it didn't have the right fit. I usually love midi length pieces but this one was a bit awkward. Heels are probably your best bet with this dress. It also has pockets!

The last piece was my absolute favorite; the first piece I grabbed when I walked in the store. I tried on a sunflower wrap maxi dress in an xl. It fit almost perfectly except for the bust. Ugh!

But as long as it isn't too tight, issues at the bust of a piece of clothing can be tailored. So I bought the dress.

I also took home a navy and white polka dot blouse and trousers. Together, these pieces create the illusion of a jumpsuit. Separately, you can wear this top with a pair of white cropped distressed jeans, or the bottoms with a red chiffon blouse. I decided to rock a red lip and yellow flats with the statement pieces.

And the Eva Mendes collection doesn't just consist of these few versatile pieces. There are so many dresses and sweaters and much more that I wanted to get but bills and responsibilities, am I right?

Here are the pieces I added to my wardrobe, as well as a few more pieces that may catch your eye!
