In an effort to bring you closer to some of your favorite influencers, once a month I will be bringing you a fun Q&A with them! They might not be deep questions that tell all, but they are fun anecdotes that can help spark a conversation and make these seemingly glamorous Instagrammers more much relatable individuals!
For the premiere post of "10 Questions with Instagram Bloggers," I am honored to introduce three women that I have followed since I started blogging and have served as great sources of inspiration: Christina of @Closet_Luxe, Courtney of @stylemecourt, and Jamie of @jamiecbrody.
Christina, "my name twin", bridges the gap between elegance and simplicity. Christina's style is attainable, although at first glance completely glam. She's also one of the masterminds behind one of the most amazing community gatherings I've been to, Femme Fair!
Courtney and I have joked that we could totally just share a closet! She loves Target, probably more than I do, and is always in the know when it comes to their latest products and sales. Courtney is the lifestyle blogger for the everyday girl, from the West Coast to the East Coast. Be sure to say hey to my "style twin" next time you watch her fun and informative Instagram stories!
If you're looking for affordable everyday fashion inspiration, Jamie is your girl! Her personality and permanent smile make you want to fly to NYC and meet up for a cup of coffee with her (followed by a shopping day, of course)! Follow Jamie through her everyday style and overall life adventures by checking out her Instagram page! Plus, her wedding day photos are beyond gorgeous!
1. How did you come up with your Instagram name?
Christina: "I literally put a bunch of words on a piece of paper and just started playing around with combinations. When I found ones I liked, I checked to see which domains and IG handles were taken… and that’s how I ended up with what I have now!"
Courtney: "My current Instagram name is "stylemecourt" which I thought was a fun and quirky way to let people know what my Instagram was about. I thought it was super clever at the time because I would be sharing my styles that were unique to me... hence style - me - court. Styling looks for me- Courtney!"
Jamie: "It's my married name =]"
2. What's something you know how to cook/bake really well?
Christina: "I’m the worst at being domestic lol. I don’t cook much, but I do make a mean mac ’n cheese."
Courtney: "Cooking and baking are both activities that I have loved ever since I was a little girl. However, I started cooking like crazy when I had my own apartment in college and my mom bought me my own cookbooks. But I'm definitely more of a 'throw things together' type of cook. However, if you ask my family their favorite dishes I make are probably stuffed cabbage, different veggie bowls, bean burritos with all the fixings (homemade guac, salsa, cilantro-lime rice) and this incredibly yummy and super simple pasta with walnuts and asparagus! I love cooking meals my family enjoys so I try to change up what I cook a lot so that we're all happy and never get bored! I love trying new recipes!"
Jamie:"I'm not a great cook but I make a killer kale pesto spread."
3. What's your go-to makeup product?
Courtney: "My go to makeup product is definitely a lip product! I always have chap stick on hand and if there's a day I'm going without makeup, sometimes I'll still put on lipstick. My two most favorite products of all time though are both by NYX - NYX Professional Matte Lipstick in Euro Trash and NYX Epic Ink Liner - it is hands down the best eyeliner I have ever used - and I've tried tons!"
Jamie: "Mascara because it's the one make-up product that I can wear on it's own."
4. How would you describe your style in 3 words or less?
Christina: "Casual. Edgy. Chic."
Jamie: "Do names count as one word? Lizzie McGuire meets Wednesday Addams."
5. Name a book that has inspired you.
Jamie: "I read a lot of Emily Griffin and thriller novels so I wouldn't say I have a book that's inspired me, may I recommend one of my favorite books? If so, my favorite book to recommend to people is The Knockoff. It's a few years old but it reads a lot like The Devil Wears Prada and will keep you enticed with it's fast paced storytelling."
6. What's something I would never guess about you?
Christina: "I like to drive fast and am known to have a little road rage!"
Courtney: "I won a diaper derby contest when I was a baby!"
Jamie: "I was runner up for prom queen in high school."
7. A fashion trend you tried you wish you hadn't?
Christina: "I don’t pay attention to trends; I prefer timeless pieces that will stand the test of time."
Courtney: "Honestly any trend that I "tried" back in middle and high school, including but not limited to: neon, sweat shorts, yoga pants, body con skirts, and any apparel branded by Hollister, American Eagle or Aeropostale, and UGGs as serious footwear."
Jamie: "Off the shoulder tops/dresses have been really popular the last couple of years and I wish I hadn't invested in the trend because I always forget how fidgety I get when I wear them."
8. If you were trapped in a TV show for a month, which one would you choose and why?
Courtney: "Hands down Gilmore Girls because it is my favorite show of all time and I absolutely love all the characters. I wish Stars Hollow was a real place. I would love to shop at Dosey's and take dance classes from Miss Patty or attend any of the whacky town events. And I would most certainly date Jess after him and Rory break up."
9. If you could move anywhere in the world, where would you go?
Christina: "PARIS. It’s my absolute dream city."
Courtney: "I haven't traveled to many places so I'm sure there are some amazing places I am not familiar with but I would have to say, as of right now, Tennessee. It seems like such a great state with so many up and coming cities. It also is still South enough that I would consider it "down South" but there would still be the change of seasons, which is super important to me!"
Jamie: "Log cabin style home in the Adirondacks."
10. If you weren't an Instablogger, how would you spend your spare time?
Christina: "I would still do all the same things (shop, brunch, hang out with friends etc) but it just wouldn’t get documented!"
Courtney: "I have a lot of hobbies but maybe I would start an Etsy Shop - hone in on one of my crafts and perfect it enough to sell it! Or freelance photography!"
Jamie: "I would likely use the time to crochet more or put more time into bullet journaling."
Thank you to these wonderful ladies for connecting with me and being a part of "10 Questions with Instagram Bloggers!"
